LATEST CLUB NEWS, READ ON!29th April - Cup Winners again!The 1sts completed our third successive OKA League and Cup double, by beating underdogs Oxford Uni 2 in the cup final on Sunday. The 3rds then played in the plate final against Reading (who had narrowly beaten the 2nds in the semi-final) and pushed them hard, but unfortunately went down 8-4.29th April - End of indoor trainingOur final indoor training session of the season will be on Thursday 8th May. Our teams will be playing a League MK match against each other on 15th May so, current players and also new players who want a game, do keep that date free as well! Outdoor training will then start on Thursday 12th June, venue to be announced very soon.16th Mar - Latest matchesThe 1sts drew 10-10 with Birmingham and lost 8-6 to Cambridge in the MRL. The match against Oxford Isis was postponed to April 20th. The 2nds beat Abingdon 23-6! And the 3rds won 11-8 against Isis 2.16th Mar - Champions again!The 1sts have won the league again, after a 17-10 win over Oxford City! Although the 2nds now have it all to do, after playing very well against Reading but going down to an agonising 10-9 defeat.10th Feb - 1st team almost there!The 1st team now only need one point from the last two games to win the Oxfordshire League again, after a 9-2 win over closest rivals Oxford University. The 2nds then had an unlucky 8-6 defeat to Basingstoke after battling back from 5-2 down to 6-5 up.3rd Feb - the League MK big battle!Our teams faced each other in League MK, and after a neck-and-neck battle, and possibly the lowest ever scoring first half ever involving MK teams, "Team B" came out on top 4-2! Team B therefore are now top of the MK league.27th Jan - Cup day, and not everything goes to planThe 1st team kicked things off on cup day with a fantastic 24-1 win over Abingdon! However, things then didn't go so well, with the 2nd team losing 5-4 to Oxford City 2 from Division 2, and the 3rds then unluckily losing 11-10 to Oxford Isis 2 following a last-minute goal.16th Jan - 1sts come out on topIn the first ever meeting between the 1st and 2nd teams, the 2nds fought hard and opened the scoring, and the scoreline was a narrow 4-1 at half-time, but the 1sts found their shooting boots in the second half and the eventual final score was 18-2, completing a 100% record for the 1sts in the first half of the season and leaving the 2nds probably needing at least one more win from the three second phase league games to stay up. The 3rds then beat MK City 9-3, ending up in the unlucky fifth place at the point that the league splits.7th Jan - 1st team enter the brave new worldThe 1sts took a step up to the higher level of competition yesterday, playing our first games in the new Midlands Regional League. A great fightback to beat Birmingham 10-9 with a late winner by John was followed by an unlucky 11-9 defeat to Highbury, all showing just how close all these matches are going to be (there was also only one goal in it when Birmingham and Highbury played each other). Elsewhere, the 3rds narrowly went down 9-8 to Oxford Isis 2, unfortunately ending their hopes of reaching the top half of OKA Division 2.17th Dec - Super Sunday with a triple win!For the first time ever, all three OKA teams won league games on the same day! The 1sts, 2nds and 3rds won 8-6 against Isis 1, 8-5 against Oxford City 1, and 9-3 against Abingdon 2 respectively. Maybe we should have Christmas parties the night before matches more often ;-)10th Dec - More wins in League MKThe Bucks teams carry on leading the way in League MK, after 11-2 and 7-2 wins against MK Roos and MK City respectively2nd Dec - New Videos now online!Watch goals from the 1st and 2nd team matches on 18th November and 25th November2nd Dec - 3rds edged outIn a rearranged fixture, a 7 player 3rd team narrowly went down 7-5 today to Oxford Uni 2.29th Nov - BREAKING NEWS - QUEEN SUPPORTS MK BUCKSThe Queen showed her support today for the finest korfball club around, by choosing to wear a purple outfit for the big visit to Milton Keynes. HRH was seen emerging at 11:15am from MK Central Station in the club colours. Katie, who was there to witness the event, said "It's great that Her Majesty has now chosen to make this support public". Clive, who was also present, added "The future's bright, the future's purple". Paul said "At least the train was on time".25th Nov - 1sts march on, but no luck for othersIn our home games, the 1st team kept the 100% record with a 12-4 win over Oxford City, but unfortunately the 2nd and 3rd teams then went down, 10-5 to Oxford Isis and 10-2 to Oxford City 2 respectively.18th Nov - Two wins!In the top-of the table clash against Oxford Uni, the 1sts showed why we are still the team to beat (from 5 mins into the game onwards....after the slightly dodgy 3-0 and 5-2 down start) by then going on to win by an impressive 21-10. And, even better, the 2nds then managed their first ever Division 1 win against Reading, edging a nail-biter 11-9 with two winning goals (nice one Clive and Mandy) in the last few minutes.11th Nov - League MK 2007/08 startsBoth our League MK mixed-ability teams had winning starts in this year's League MK competition, winning 7-2 and 5-3 against MK Roos and MK City respectively.Old news up to October, and what we got up to last summer |
