The second round of League MK matches took place on December 17th, with wins for two of the Bucks teams. MK Hotshots came out on top against new club MK City, and then MK Spandau won the inter-Thursday clash against Doodle's Poodles.

11th Dec - No luck in the cup

Down in Epsom, despite much of the match being very close, a six-goal haul from Specky wasn't enough to keep the first team BKA cup run going, as the team eventually went down 11-20 to an experienced Nomads 2 team.

3rd Dec - Great league results

In the final OKA games before Christmas, a solid first team performance saw off Basingstoke 15-2 to keep the 100% league record going, while goals from James and Paul in the last five minutes secured a very hard-fought 8-6 win against Oxford City 3 after the whole match had been neck-and-neck.

26th Nov - Record win for 1sts

The first team picked up their biggest ever win in the club's history, demolising a six-player Abingdon team 30-4, with Steve scoring eight (yes, EIGHT!) goals on his MK debut. Unfortunately the seconds then found it tougher going against a strong Oxford City 2 team, going down 12-4.

20th Nov - Two more wins

The first and second teams pulled off a double win against Oxford Uni first and second teams last night - the firsts, while never quite reaching the heights of the cup and Oxford City wins, still produced an impressive margin of victory 14-7, while the seconds scored plenty of goals to win 12-9.

The social calendar has been updated.

22nd Oct - Friendly win

We put out a team to face new club MK City for the first time, and came away with a 10-5 win, with Jon, who regularly trains with both teams, choosing to play for the purple side of MK and scoring not only his first goal in a match, but, in fact, a grand total of 5 goals!

16th Oct - Great first match!

Our first team produced a great performance in the first OKA league match of the season, to start the title defence in style. Expecting a tough battle against Oxford City 1, a superb all-round team performance saw us extend a 6-2 half-time lead to win 16-6. The second team's first match was unfortunately called off after Abingdon 2 could not field a team.

9th Oct - MK1 leave it late

A goal from John T with literally four seconds left on the clock gave the first team a hard-fought 7-6 win against Highbury 1 on 8th October in our final round of preseason friendlies. The second team then defeated Highbury 2 5-1, followed by wins for each club's first team agains the other club's seconds.

Some of us are going to cheer on the MK Dons tonight, then we're going out again on 14th October to celebrate Jon P's quarter-of-a-century birthday.

1st Oct - Friendly win

We played our first preseason friendly, sending a mixed-ability team to play away to Basingstoke Bulls. We won a very close match 12-11, with Nov top-scoring with five goals including a last-minute penalty (although the referee had the score wrong at the time so we only worked out afterwards that it was the winning goal!)

1st Oct - Home in the Cup

In the 2006/07 BKA Cup draw, we will resume battle with Cardiff Dragons once again, but this time we get the be the hosts, as we got the home draw we were hoping for. 1st Aug - Mighty Buccaneers at the Counties

MK supplied most of the players for the Bucks (and Beds/Herts/Northants) team at this year's British Korfball Association County Championships in Norfolk from July 29th-30th, and finished 10th, our highest position so far! And, at the fifth attempt over the last two years, we finally beat Devon! Update 7th Aug - Now with some more pictures!. Results to follow...

17th July - MK nearly outlast the Vodka!

At the Cambridge tournament (July 15th), we smashed our record for highest-finish-in-a-tournament for the second time this summer, drawing the final 4-4 with perennial champions Vodka, and after an initially tied penalty shoot-out, only being a sudden-death penalty away from our first ever tournament victory! Oh so close....

26th June - Croydon tournament

We beat last year's finish of 20th, this time coming 15th (and there were more teams entered as well!), and even beating Bec 1 along the way! Full report to follow...

18th June - Success in Luxembourg

Despite not winning a match on the first day, our first ever international tournament in Luxembourg came to a successful conclusion as three wins on day 2 left us finishing in 13th place and the second highest British team! There was plenty of fun off the pitch as well!

Full report here...

21st May - 3rd in tournament!

Indoor korfball for 2005/06 is now finished, so on Saturday 20th May, we competed in the first tournament of the outdoor season, in Oxford, and it was a successful day all round!

Tournament report...

14th May - LEAGUE AND CUP DOUBLE!!!!

We have now retained the Oxfordshire Cup to add to the league title!

In our last indoor match of the season, a very tight match against a strong Abingdon 1 team saw us 5-4 up at half-time, but we gradually built up a lead to win 14-8!
(Yes we know the OKA Cup looks nothing like the World Cup, but it was the best clipart we could find, and it seems quite appropriate, given the timing!)

Match report...

8th May - Tigers claim League MK title

In the final winner-takes-all game in League MK, Tony's Tigers overturned a 1-0 halftime defecit against MK Kestrels in a very low-scoring game, to take the honours 5-2 and win the first season of the new league, with a total of 10 points from their 4 games. The Kestrels themselves finish runners-up with 9 points, with MK Hotshots close behind on 7.

More players (either individuals or teams) are wanted next season to expand this league! Find out how to get involved.

Milton Keynes 1st team are 2005/06 Oxfordshire League Champions!
We sealed the title with an 18-10 win over our nearest rivals Oxford Uni, storming into a 6-0 lead and then maintaining it. This is such a great achievement considering it's only our second season!!

MK 2nd team won their final league game 8-4 against Oxford Uni 2 and could make it double success - we now need the students to defeat Abingdon 2 if we are going to win Division 2.

11th March - We hosted the BKA Inter-Area Competition

The tournament ran all day in Stantonbury Campus main sports hall on March 11th. It was a great day, and Anglia TV also came along to cover the event! The teams were: London, Oxfordshire, British Students, Norfolk, Wales, South West, Scotland, Kent and Central England. Pete, Jon, John, Ali, Katie and Suzanne were all selected for the Oxfordshire team, and played some great korfball against tough opposition; we couldn't quite make the final (it was London and Central England who qualified) but a good time was had by all.
