28th Oct - 1sts win again! But that's the only win

The 1st team march on, this time overcoming a scare in the middle of the match against Reading, to extend the lead again at the end and win 14-8. Unfortunately however, the 2nds came up against an Oxford Uni team who were just two strong, losing 9-4, and the 3rds went down 8-2 to Reading 2.

22nd Oct - Just short in the cup

Unfortunately the 1st team's BKA cup run came to an abrupt end in an aircraft hanger opposite Leyton Orient football ground, despite playing three good halves out of four, as a 3-2 halftime lead against National League team North Downs was turned into a 9-3 defeat. We did then, at least, show that we can tun on the style for the whole game, by beating Highbury 1 9-6. Full report to follow...

Nice trees....yes it looks like we were playing in Heathrow Terminal 4

19th Oct - Social news

We are having a fundraising social at MK Lightning ice hockey on 17th November; come and see the match for only £2! We are also currently trying to sort out a Christmas do at one of the Northampton Saints party nights.

8th Oct - 1st and 3rds win, 2nds unlucky again

The 1st team marched on, beating an 7-player Abingdon team (their fourth boy got stuck in traffic) by twentysomething goals to five. The 2nds were unfortunately on the wrong end of a close game again, going down 7-5 to Basingstoke. But the 3rd team won a tight one in their first ever OKA league game, being pulled back by Didcot but then grabbing back the lead and winning 11-8.

Lots of running against Abingdon

6th Oct - Fixtures now online!

The 2007/08 fixtures up to the OKA League split are now here on the site!

6th Oct - EKA Cup Draw

Given our close links (and player movements!) over the last couple of years, it was somewhat inevitable (if we weren't going to get Cardiff Dragons for the 3rd year running!) that we got drawn against Highbury in this year's BKA, sorry EKA, Cup. We will head to London on October 21st to play them and also North Downs, who are presumably the seeded team in the group.

1st Oct - First team success, 2nds unlucky

We opened our OKA league campaign on Sunday 30th, with our earliest ever start to the league season! The 1sts started where they left off last season, beating Basingstoke 16-7, while the 2nds, in their first ever Division 1 match, were unlucky to narrowly go down 6-8 to Abingdon 2. Normal service has now been renewed on the webist, so match results will now be up here the day after each game!

13th Sept - Training starts tonight, and more reports online!

If you are coming along to our first training session of the 2007/08 season tonight, then welcome and hope you enjoy it. The 2007/08 league fixtures will be added to here in the next week. In the meantime, all the remaining tournament reports from the summer are now on here, from Exeter, Counties, our own tournament, and the beach tournament

31st August - New Season Coming Soon!

We start training again on 13th September from 8:30-10pm. Fancy joining us? No previous playing experience needed, and you can also get a curry discount card for Spice Lounge and Buddha Blue passes!

8th August - AGM and first 100 Club draw

At the club AGM on 4th August, the new committee was elected. The only changes to the 2006/07 committee is that Jon Patridge takes over publicity and James Sloan takes up a new post of tournament coordinator.
We also had our first ever monthly 100 Club draw! The winners are:

1st Prize £40 Darren Gray No. 18
2nd Prize £25 Darren Gray No. 88
3rd Prize £10 Paul Sloan No. 47
4th Prize £5 Andy Merris No. 33
We still have plenty of numbers available, so do contact the club if you are interested in buying one.

2nd August - Big Tournament Thanks!

Big big thanks to everyone who played and helped at, and all the teams who came to, our first ever tournament! The tournament and the "Korfstock" fun day were a great success - more details will be added to this site over the weekend! MK1's 3rd place also means that we win the OKA Tour - this is us getting the cup!

Katie and Nov pick up the trophy

23rd July - Mud-fest in Bristol!

The BKA County Championships in Bristol, featuring many of our players in the Buckinghamshire/Northamptonshire team, survived the floods, but meant lots and lots of mud!!! We battled through this to finish in a best-ever 7th place and also went Mexican for the social - full report (already on the Facebook page) coming to this site soon.

23rd July - We are now on Facebook

Thanks to Jon P, we now have our own Facebook group - go on there and search "MK Korfball" to check us out...

10th July - Outdoor venue change!!!

IMPORTANT! We have now changed our outdoor training venue with immediate effect! We have now moved from Furzton to Tattenhoe from this week onwards.

7th July - MK korfers in two places at once!

We were in "action" both home and away on 7th July. In Exeter, we finally got to play without being rained on, and finished 6th in the Exeter tournament. The team was Kat, Kirsty, Marisca, Carla, Paul, Max from Oxford, plus special guest appearances from John and Ali. Meanwhile, back in MK, we ran a British Korfball Association coaching course for players from both MK and several other clubs and unis. Contratulations to Caz, Clive, Jon, Katie and Nov (plus Darren, Holly and Sarah from MK City) who are now Level 1 coaches.

25th June - Croydon tournament

We made the trip to Croydon for the third year running, and defeated an England national team to top our morning group! Never mind the official placings, our proper placing (if it hadn't been for administrative error) would have been about 11th. The dynamic trio of Specky, Kirsty and Sloaney explain here.

18th June - Luxembourg - the return!

An even bigger group of 15 korfers made the trip to Luxembourg this year! This time we finished 11th and 12th (after a final match against each other!) - the highlight on the pitch was probably one of our teams coming from 4-0 down to beat a Belgian team 5-4, but there were plenty of highlights off the pitch as well! Results here, report to come...

Our teams

2nd June - Manchester tournament

We came 7th out of 24 at the Manchester tournament! And showed them how to do golf and karaoke. James sets the scene.

19th May - Oxford tournament, and awards-tastic!

We had a successful day at the Oxford tournament, finishing in equal fifth place after several impressive results. Then it was an equally successful night at the OKA Awards evening! Not only did we pick up our Division 1, Division 2 and OKA Cup trophies, but MK players also won two individual awards, with Specky being voted Division 1's best male player and Katie winning the "outstanding contribution to korfball" award!

13th May - Cup winners again!

The 1st team have won the Oxfordshire Cup for the third year running! We defeated Basingstoke Bulls 19-8 in the final. Unfortunately the 2nds didn't have as much luck in the plate final, losing 16-6 to Division 1 team Oxford City 1.

13th May - Outdoor training

Outdoor training will start on May 24th, at a new venue in Furzton, rather than Caldecotte. Contact us if you want to come along, because we will still be getting used to exactly where we are setting up the pitch so want to know if we are looking out for anyone! We have now finished indoor training for the season.

6th May - Two teams in the finals!

Here's what has been going on the last couple of weeks:

The 1st team have made the OKA Cup final (13th May) after winning a nail-biter 13-12 against Oxford Uni in the semi-finals
The 2nd team have made the plate final (same day) after beating Oxford Uni 2 in the semis by 15 goals to 11.
The 3rds unfortunately lost 8-6 to Oxford Uni 2 in the plate quarter-finals but can be pleased with the performance.
A mixed team also beat MK City 8-2 in a friendly match.
And we are now making preparations for our outdoor tournament on July 28th - full details to come on the site soon, but contact us if you want more information!

16th Apr - MK2 champions as well!

The 2nd team have won Oxfordshire Division 2! The team, after being only 5-2 up at half-time, won the rearranged match 15-2 against Didcot after a great second half performance. This gave us the 10-goal win needed to win the division on goal difference!
The team were then in action again on April 15th, beating Oxford City 4 12-6 to move into the plate semi-finals.

3rd Apr - Spandau win League MK!

MK Spandau are the 2006/07 League MK champions after the final round of games. A narrow 4-2 win over MK City initially looked like it may not be enough if the title was going to go down to goal difference, but rivals Doodle's Poodles were then held 6-6 by MK Hotshots meaning that Spandau took the title.
